"I hired John Barrett and Archadeck to build my 20x19 (including stairs) Select Saddle Trex deck with aluminum/PVC railings.

I'm not sure what happened with the other reviewers' estimates/appointments but I never had an issue with responsiveness in the process. I worked with John extensively on the parameters and pricing to get it just right. We started talking to him in February and we made our final decisions on exactly how we wanted everything at the end of May. He was very patient working with me evaluating various plans and options to meet our specifications and get the best deck we could for our budget. Once they started working on the deck John was very accessible via email, call, or text. He always got back to me by the end of the day, sometimes within the hour.

The deck was built in about a week. We are still waiting on finalizing some items such as some missing caps on the railings that John noticed during our walkthrough. We are waiting for those to arrive and they are going to come out and fix some other minor imperfections that I pointed out when they do.

I typically handle household projects myself, but I'm not a carpenter. This deck is off my kitchen, about 10ft off the ground as my basement is a walkout from back of the house underneath. It was great to sit back and watch the deck go up and not worry about inspections or anything else. I could not have done anywhere near a good a job as they did on the deck and it would have taken me weeks, months, years? It took them a week.

We couldn't be happier with our new deck and we'll be out grilling and having friends and family over for the 4th of July.

I wish I could upload pictures. The deck far exceeded all of my expectations.

Update: All the follow up items I listed in the walkthrough were fixed quickly. After the walkthrough, we noticed there were two spots on the stairs that the trex composite was dented through. It looked like maybe a tool had been dropped or something. They came out and replaced two stair planks under the warranty. It took a while for them to get out and fix it, but the results are perfect."
