  • Burlap Here, Burlap There, Burlap Everywhere!

Most people know burlap as the fabric sacks are made of. Exported from India in the early 19th century, burlap was originally used for linoleum, rugs and carpets. In Jamaica, where burlap is called crocus, enslaved Africans repurposed old sacks into clothes to protect them from heat and dust. Nowadays, burlap is used throughout homes for beautiful and original decoration, creating a rustic tint. Most of the decoration can be easily made yourself. This article presents interesting ideas and hopefully inspiration for you to bring burlap to your home.
