To have an Island or Not?

Would you benefit from an island or not? A kitchen island that is. There are pros and cons to having a kitchen island as a part of your space. Check out our tips and find out before you commit!

Pro: Extra Seating

Con: Guests probably won’t utilize the extra seating.

If you have guests over they most likely will want to be facing each other and not ostracized at a counter seat. However, if you have children then this could still be a good addition for morning rush breakfast time.

Pro: Extra Counter Space
Con: Extra counter space for clutter.

This is totally a personal call if you don’t foresee junk mail piling up then this may help prep when entertaining,

Pro: Statement Piece
Con: Takes up Space

Usually kitchen islands are visually appealing when looking at pictures of kitchens, but sometimes there are too many cooks in the kitchen. If you are already limited on space, maybe skip the island.

Pro: Extra Storage
Con: Storage for Furry Friends

People have complained that this is the spot for their feline friends to hop on and call home, so if you have a cat maybe this isn’t the right addition for your household. However the extra storage may be more appealing.
