Space Saving Design Ideas Your Kitchen Needs
Here are four easy space saving kitchen design ideas that will maximize your potential storage and work areas, while still allowing for an attractive kitchen design.
We could all use a little more space in our kitchens. Much needed gadgets and equipment can sometimes exceed the amount of drawer, cabinet and counter space available. Downsizing and de-cluttering can help, but you still need ample space to prepare, cook, move and store the kitchen items you use frequently.
Mounting the Microwave: Make the microwave, a daily-use appliance off of the kitchen countertop by building it into the cabinets. This will offer more counter space, while keeping the microwave in an ultra-convenient spot. For a streamlined look, place the microwave behind a cabinet door or on the top shelf of a built-in pantry (See Below).
A Pleasing Pantry: A separate food pantry is necessary in any good kitchen design. Include a built-in pantry in a new kitchen, take over a nearby closet to serve, or purchase a freestanding pantry that can be painted and incorporated to match your kitchen.
Extend the Cabinets: Cabinets that reach all the way to the ceiling take full advantage of the storage available, wasting no space. Because high storage can be inconvenient, place less frequently used items at the top.
Island View: A kitchen island can serve several purposes: as an addition work or serving area, as a source for additional storage and as an eating area (with the addition of seating). Select a kitchen island that serves your needs without overwhelming the space. Learn How to Choose a Kitchen Island before you install.
