Decorating with Kilim

Kilim rugs are Turkish rugs that have a vintage feel and are usually over-dyed. They are popping up in Bohemian style home decor. This free-spirited gypsy feel has become extremely popular. It is a very vintage, eclectic approach to interior design. These rugs can be added in many ways to different spaces of the home. If you are trying to add a Boho Chic design to your home, look no further; the Kilim patterns are your answer.

A Mix of Patterns: This space has many patterns that are cohesive. The couch’s print plays off of the Kilim throw and the throw pillow’s design complements the shabby Kilim rug.

Stair Carpet Runner: The same Kilim pattern is brought throughout the staircase and home entryway in this unique idea.

Layering Kilim Rugs: This living space is wide-open enough to provide a substantial bright area to allow for layering without looking cluttered. In a small space it is hard to pull off that many layers.

Kilim Patterns: This space has an ordinary striped rug, but the throw pillows on the couch are Kilim printed. Incorporating Kilim patterns does not just have to include rugs.

Two-Timing Masterpiece: This Kilim look is accomplished with two Kilim rugs/throws. Having both in a similar pattern with the same palette is not overwhelming.

Kilim Tapestry: This tapestry brightens up the warm and welcoming bedroom being hung behind the bed in a faux headboard look.

Entry Magic: A Kilim runner in an entryway, hallway, or foyer makes the right statement with a pop of color. This pink over-dyed rug is stunning in this simple entry.

Simple Layering: This layering idea can be done in any room; having a simple textured rug under the bright Kilim really makes the Kilim rug pop on any surface.

Separating Areas: Using multiple Kilims in a range of patterns in a large open space helps to break up the areas in your house.

Kilim Headboard: Why not hang a Kilim behind your bed? It provides texture and is an easy headboard idea!

Kilim Chair: Drape a Kilim over a saucer chair for a comfy inviting feel. This space has many Kilim patterns working together in this bright space full of patterns.

Contrasting Pattern Layering: Put a black and white patterned rug under a Kilim for a unique eclectic look. This is more of a polished style rather than the freestyle Bohemian.

Kilim Rugs in the Kitchen: A Kilim rug is a great addition to a kitchen; it provides character. This simple modern kitchen was livened up with this patterned rug.
