5 Step Cure for a Rusty Cast Iron Skillet
Don’t throw away that rusty cast iron skillet. Instead, clean and season it with this easy five step process.
Step 1: Rinse the rusty skillet in the hottest water, but do not use soap. Remove as much of the rust as you can with a plastic dish brush.
Step 2: Dry the skillet with a clean towel.
Step 3: Coat the skillet, inside and out with vegetable oil.
Step 4: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place the skillet upside down on a cookie and put it all in the oven. Bake the skillet for an hour.
Step 5: Allow the skillet to cool and then wipe it down with a paper towel. It is now ready to use.
This is all you need to do to season a cast iron pan or skillet.
